Meet Nampijja Kevin

Meet compassionate, nurturing Nampijja Kevin. Upon meeting Kevin, our memory of her is that of carrying a little boy who she did not let out of her sight the entire time that we were with her. We soon came to learn that this little boy was her brother and that at the time, while her mother was working as an assistant cook it was Kevin’s responsibility to care for him. Kevin is only 7 years old and one of four children. Her father is currently unemployed and gambles away the little money that her family has leaving no funds for Kevin or her siblings to be able to go to school. Luckily, we were able to find Kevin a sponsor and she now attends a primary boarding school. Kevin’s favorite subject is English and she would like to be a nurse when she grows up so that she can care for others. Kevin is a natural born caregiver, so this aspiration is of no surprise to us. Kevin loves matooke and meat and one day hopes to have a large house where she can cook as well as care for her family.
