UPDATE

Our school is open! Help us expand to welcome more students.

Waves of Education is dedicated to providing quality education to underprivileged children in order to empower them to improve their community, health, and well-being.

Our Vision

Our vision is to empower a marginalized community to become self-sustainable and offer a way out of extreme poverty.

Waves of Education will do this collaboratively with our partners, Waves of Health and the local Little Sisters of St. Francis, first through providing education. We will build and support a primary school, mentor teachers, and implement initiatives to deliver quality education. Our medical team volunteers will provide free annual primary medical care and treatment for the community along with health programs addressing the specific local conditions. To empower the community, we will help its members develop skills through various vocational training programs to encourage economic growth.

Reduces poverty

If all students in low income countries left school with basic reading skills, 171 million people could be lifted out of extreme poverty.

Improves health

Individuals who receive more education are more likely to be in good health and well fed. Education is correlated with a longer life expectancy.

Empowers communities

“Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for
a lifetime.”

WHAT WE DO

Since 2018, Waves of Education has sponsored 16 children at various day and boarding schools. Through the work of our nonprofit, Waves of Health, primary healthcare including treatment has been provided to more than 2,300 Ugandans who have no access to healthcare otherwise.

We understand that we cannot be successful without involving the local community, that’s why we have partnered with the Little Sisters of St. Francis on all of our initiatives. With established education and health ministries throughout Uganda, the sisters are embedded in the communities and understand the needs of the local Ugandans. They are well positioned as advocates of the people to ensure success.

Why Uganda

1 in 5 children are out of school

Uganda is a small, landlocked country in East Africa. Despite great progress in reducing countrywide poverty, Uganda remains one of the poorest nations in the world. Although there is notable poverty in America, help is available as is government support. We’ve seen firsthand the widespread and extreme poverty in the forgotten villages of Uganda. Basic needs are not met and there is no relief in sight.
